Runners taking on the Manchester Marathon this year can expect a lively boost at mile 17, where Sale pub The Little B is planning a big beer stop party to keep spirits high.

At a stage in the race where many runners are starting to feel the distance, the pub is set to create a loud and supportive atmosphere with music, cheering crowds and small tasters of Thwaites Paradise for those who want a quick sip as they pass.

The Little B says it wants to make mile 17 one of the most memorable points on the route, giving runners a lift when they need it most.

John, manager of The Little B, said: “We want to be the loudest and most encouraging spot on the course. Mile 17 is where runners really start to dig deep, so we want to help lift them, make them smile and give them that extra push towards the finish.”

Beer stops have become a popular part of marathon culture in recent years, giving runners and supporters a moment of fun in the middle of a tough challenge. The Little B is putting its own stamp on that idea by turning its stretch of the course into a proper party atmosphere.

Whether runners stop for a taster or simply take in the support as they go past, they can expect plenty of noise and encouragement to carry them through the closing miles.

The Little B was refurbished and taken on by new owners last year. More recently, Greek street food business Laros has also permanently taken over the kitchen, adding another new addition to the pub’s offer.

For spectators, The Little B promises to be one of the liveliest spots on the marathon route. For runners, it could be just the boost they need to get them to the finish line.
