Review: Hot Thai, Sale Moor

Hot Thai made the move from Stockport to Sale Moor earlier in the year, settling into the former Wan Thai unit on Northenden Road – and it’s been a very welcome addition to the village.

What we ate

  • Prawn crackers (£3.90)

  • Vegetable spring rolls (£6)

  • Chicken satay skewers (£7)

  • Prawn pad Thai (£15.95)

  • Roast duck red curry (£15.50)

The food

A simple start, but the prawn crackers arrived crisp and moreish. Spring rolls were light, golden and not greasy, with a clean crunch. The chicken satay skewers had a gentle char and came with a rich, nutty dipping sauce.

For mains, the prawn pad Thai hit a sweet-sour-savoury balance with plump prawns and nicely chewy noodles – think comforting without being heavy. The roast duck red curry was fragrant with Thai basil, silky from coconut and generous with slices of duck.

Service and vibe

Staff were warm and attentive without hovering — the sort of friendly, unhurried service that suits a local neighbourhood spot. With plenty of vegetarian and vegan dishes on the menu, it’s an easy pick for mixed groups too. The drinks menu includes a selection of wines, beers and spirits.

Our verdict

Delicious food, lovely staff and a very strong option for dinner in Sale Moor. We recommend!
