Sale Fire Station to host free ‘Living Well with Dementia’ community open day
Sale Community Fire Station will host a special “Living Well with Dementia” Open Day on Sunday 24 August, offering free support and expert advice for the whole community.
Running from 11am to 3pm, the event aims to bring local residents together to learn more about living with dementia in a supportive and relaxed setting. The open day is hosted by Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service in partnership with local organisations including Oakfield Croft Care Home – Care UK, Home Instead, Trafford Carers and Alzheimer’s Society.
The day will feature a marketplace with over 20 support groups, charities and professionals offering information, resources and advice for people living with dementia, their families and carers. There will also be expert talks covering topics such as diagnosis, care, and where to find help – as well as live musical performances, games, prizes and refreshments provided by the Salvation Army.
Younger visitors will enjoy meeting real-life firefighters, getting up close to the fire engines and watching fire safety demonstrations throughout the day.
The event is fully accessible and will take place both indoors and under cover, with plenty of seating and free parking available at Oaklands Drive Car Park, next to the fire station on Cranleigh Drive.
