Sale Festival to return in 2026 — what’s on?
Sale Festival is back for 2026, with organisers promising another packed programme of music, theatre, art, comedy, crafts and community events across the town.
The volunteer-run festival will once again bring performances and experiences to Sale’s streets, halls, churches and public spaces, with this year’s launch day set for Sunday 17 May in Stanley Square.
Run by a small team of local volunteers, Sale Festival has become one of the town’s best-loved annual celebrations, shining a light on local talent while bringing people together through culture, creativity and community spirit. Organisers say 2026 is shaping up to have a wide-ranging programme that includes everything from opera and jazz to children’s events, craft workshops and live performances.

The festival officially begins with a free community launch day in Stanley Square from 11am to 3pm on Sunday 17 May, with live music and festival brochures available on the day. The launch event will feature performances from Sale Brass Band, Manchester HK Community Singers and saxophonist David Sotunde, offering a lively start to the summer-long programme.
Among the early highlights already listed for 2026 are Flat Pack Opera’s performance of Tosca at St Paul’s Church on Saturday 30 May, a Buskers’ Day in Stanley Square on Sunday 31 May and the Simone Manuuza Trio bringing a mix of contemporary songs, opera and jazz to Sale on Thursday 04 June. A family-friendly Sale Comic Con and Waterside Plaza children’s event is also scheduled for Saturday 06 June, with activities taking place across the town centre.
There are children’s activities and hands-on workshops in the programme too, including a willow bird feeder workshop and a family cupcake decorating workshop during May half term. From classical performances and community music to crafts and family days out, the programme looks set to offer something for all ages.
