The events took place at Sale West Community Centre and Coppice Library and Wellbeing Centre, where residents were able to take part in activities including seed planting, fitness club, a mental health awareness workshop and Couch to 5k guidance. Residents could also access work and skills advice and digital training and find out more about volunteering opportunities.
The two venues, run by BlueSci and Our Sale West, were selected as part of the new Sale Live Well Centre Campus by members of the community, in recognition of the excellent services they already deliver. The Live Well Centre approach will grow over time in Sale, expanding to provide holistic, wrap around services designed to help people feel healthier, happier and more connected.
Trafford Live Well sits within the Greater Manchester Strategy's ambition for great everyday support in every neighbourhood. Spearheaded by the GM Mayor Andy Burnham, it aims for public services to be working with communities rather than simple for them. At the heart of Live Well is a commitment to prevention and early help, reducing inequalities, and building on the strengths of local people, organisations and voluntary groups.

Speaking at the launch, Cllr George Devlin, Executive Member for Housing and Advice & member of the Live Well Steering Group said: "This launch shows what happens when we listen to our communities and build support around what people say they need. Live Well isn't about creating something new for the sake of it, it is about joining up the brilliant everyday activities already happening in places like Our Sale West and Coppice, giving it the space and backing to grow. Seeing residents, volunteers and partners come together today really brought that to life.”
Cllr Rose Thompson, Executive Member for Communities and Safety added: "Live Well is all about making sure people can get the right help close to home, and this event showed just how powerful that can be. Our communities are the heart of this work, and these new centres highlight the difference that strong partnerships and local voices can make in helping people feel safe, supported and connected, with services genuinely shaped by the people who use them.”
Ralph Rudden, local resident and longstanding volunteer with Our Sale West added: "It's a continual process of improvement not only for the people who live on this estate but for the partners who come and provide services. I have lived on this estate for nearly 60 years, and I've been actively involved in the community for 45 years. It can't be done just by residents - it has to be true partnership working and we have had nothing but support from all partners that are now launching this next new stage.”
