Actor Adam Thomas, who plays Donte Charles in the BBC school drama, confirmed the location in a series of photos and videos posted to his Instagram stories. Speaking to followers from Sale Water Park, he said: "We’re shooting something very exciting today.

"We’re on location. I feel like I'm on a movie today, man.

"The budget – I feel like we've splashed out a lot because it's not often on Waterloo Road that we get to go on location."

He added: "So for all you Waterloo Road fans out there, you guys are going to be in for a treat because it's all going off. Watch this space."

Quite what drama is set to unfold at Sale Water Park remains to be seen, but it looks as though the popular Sale beauty spot could be making an appearance in the new series.

Waterloo Road is set in Greater Manchester and first aired in 2006. The school drama helped launch the careers of a number of now well-known actors, including Jenna Coleman, Lucien Laviscount, Regé-Jean Page, Chelsee Healey and Phoebe Dynevor.

The show was cancelled in 2014, but returned to screens in 2023, with Adam Thomas reprising his role after originally appearing in the series between 2006 and 2009.

Waterloo Road is expected to return for its eighteenth series in 2026, although an exact broadcast date has not yet been announced.
