Everlast Gym Sale closes permanently with immediate effect
Everlast Gym Sale has closed permanently, with members given little notice before the doors shut for the final time.
Members received an email on Friday (11 September) confirming that the Sale branch had closed with immediate effect and would not be reopening.
Reaction to the news has been mixed. Some members have expressed frustration at the lack of notice, particularly given the immediate closure of the gym. Others have suggested the announcement was not entirely unexpected, commenting that equipment and facilities at the Sale site were regularly out of order and, in some cases, remained broken for long periods.
Everlast said the Sale site was one of its oldest original gyms and had built up a “loyal and supportive community of members”.
However, the company said the building had faced “frequent, significant and unexpected building issues” over the past five years, requiring substantial investment to continue operating.
In its message to members, Everlast said: “Throughout this time, we have done everything possible to continue providing the best service and environment for our members. Unfortunately, we have now had to make the very difficult decision to close our doors with immediate effect.
“We are extremely saddened to deliver this news.”
The closure leaves one fewer option for locals looking for gyms in Sale.
What happens to Everlast Gym Sale memberships?
Everlast has automatically transferred memberships from the Sale gym to Everlast Gyms+ Manchester Trafford Palazzo, which opened earlier this year.
Existing membership prices have been secured for the next 12 months, with members able to continue training at Trafford Palazzo without paying any additional cost. Members will also have access to Everlast clubs in Leigh and Oldham at no extra charge.
The Manchester Trafford Palazzo gym opened in March and includes new strength and cardio equipment, a HYROX Performance Centre, dedicated glute zone, Myprotein Kitchen, Everlast Lifting Club, performance testing areas, a boxing area, Reformer Pilates studio and a recovery suite with ice baths and saunas.
Members who do not want to move to Trafford Palazzo can opt out by emailing Everlast’s cancellations team with their membership number before 30 September. Everlast said those who cancel will receive a pro-rata refund covering the period from 12 September to 30 September.
Members have also been asked not to cancel their Direct Debit themselves, with Everlast warning that doing so could prevent it from processing any refund due.
In its message, the company acknowledged the closure would come as a disappointment but said it was confident members would enjoy the facilities at Trafford Palazzo. Everlast thanked Sale members for their “continued loyalty, support and understanding”.
