Christmas tree returns to Sale town centre with local support
Sale's town centre Christmas tree has been installed on School Road, funded this year by local housebuilder PIC Homes.
Many assume the tree is organised and funded by Trafford Council, but the annual festive centrepiece is made possible through the support of local businesses. In previous years, the tree has been funded by Altered Spaces, the developer behind the regeneration of Stanley Square and Slater Heelis.
The tree, its lights and installation cost around £3,500 each year.
To make the tree more central and visible, a permanent tree pit was installed near Boots and Lloyds Bank, funded by Stanley Square, so the tree could be better enjoyed by those visiting the town centre.
This year, PIC Homes has stepped forward to fund the tree as part of its ongoing involvement in the town through The Courts development on the former magistrates’ site.
Armaan Chohan, director at PIC Homes, said: "We’re proud to be supporting the Sale town centre Christmas tree and lights this year. As we continue our work on The Courts development in partnership with Trafford Council, we’re delighted to contribute to local community projects that bring people together and celebrate the spirit of Sale.
"Activities like this and Sale in Bloom help make the town an even more welcoming and vibrant place to live."
Tony Martin, general manager at Stanley Square, said: "We are delighted that PIC Homes has funded this year's Christmas tree. They have been very supportive of Sale Town in Bloom and were keen to contribute further to town centre initiatives. Alongside this, Stanley Square and other local businesses also fund the fairy lights in the trees along School Road."
Visitors can also expect the usual Christmas lighting scheme throughout Stanley Square, including new festive additions crafted by local maker Des Gillan of Willow Goat Crafts.
