VE Day 80th anniversary events in Sale, M33
Communities across Sale and Trafford are gearing up to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day and the end of World War Two in Europe with a range of events and celebrations.
Bells rang out on Tuesday, 08 May 1945 following the unconditional surrender of Germany and bringing to an end the war in Europe after five years of conflict that claimed tens of millions of lives.
While the war with Japan continued until VJ Day on 15 August 1945, VE Day in Europe sparked mass celebrations.
Eight decades later, the 80th anniversary will be marked with events right across the UK and Europe.
While Trafford Council has said there have been no applications for street closures to hold VE Day celebration parties, there are some community events taking place.

This Sale care home is welcoming local people to honour the 80th anniversary of VE Day with its very own 1940s-themed afternoon.
The commemorative event will see residents and guests enjoy an afternoon of delicious lunch and desserts, speeches and entertainment as they embrace the spirit of the 1940s.

Music from DJ Matt Doughty (from 3.30pm)
This event takes place after the launch of Paint Sale Pink (11am-2pm), which includes community group performances and a selection of stalls all raising money for Prevent Breast Cancer and kickstarting the two-week-long fundraising event.
