Inside Sale's new pre-loved furniture warehouse: vintage, retro and upcycled treasures

NOW OPEN: A long-deserted building on Sale’s Chapel Road is bursting back into life as a vintage, retro and pre-loved furniture warehouse and workshop.

Vicky Mulligan, the artistic brain behind TouchWood Designs, is giving old furniture a second chance to shine and is inviting the residents of Sale and surrounding areas to explore its fascinating collection.

"It all started as a way to relax, a little escape from my work in the funeral industry," says Vicky. "But it quickly turned into an absolute obsession."

Since leaving her previous full-time role earlier this year to focus on her new enterprise, Vicky has been finding pieces of furniture with good structural integrity and transforming them with her flair for design. The venture is more than just about aesthetic transformation though.

"It's about showing the lifecycle of repurposing furniture," Vicky explains. "When you upcycle, you're not only giving new life to pre-loved items but also doing your bit for the environment. It's about preserving quality, about preventing something beautiful from ending up in a landfill."

While the warehouse on Chapel Road is Vicky's current primary hub for furniture restoration, showcasing and sales, you can also find some of her upcycled gems at Sale's largest 'shop small' destination, Emporium M33.
