New hardware shop to open in Sale town centre

Sale town centre is set to welcome back a much-missed type of shop – a hardware and DIY store.

Stanley Square DIY, run by the team behind Iconic Bathrooms, is preparing to open in a new unit on Hereford Street, facing Tesco Sale. The store will stock everything from everyday DIY essentials to painting and decorating supplies, providing a convenient place for shoppers to pick up items such as screws, spanners and tins of paint without leaving town.

The arrival of a DIY store should be welcome news for those residents who have voiced frustration about the “lack of shops” in the redeveloped town centre. Its opening adds a practical new option to the mix of independent retailers, food spots and services in Stanley Square, including the arrival of PureGym Sale later this year.

Mark Rebbeck, managing director at Altered Space, the asset manager and developer behind Stanley Square’s regeneration, said: “The arrival of Stanley Square DIY strengthens our ambition to create a genuine mixed-use destination in the heart of Sale, where people can live, work, shop and socialise.

“Stanley Square DIY is an extended offering from one of our standout local tenants, ‘Iconic Bathrooms’, providing local residents with the opportunity to pick up essential DIY items at the heart of their town centre.  We wish them every success in the future.”

Stanley Square DIY is aiming to open its doors in late October or early November.

Life in Sale has contacted Iconic Bathrooms for comment and will update this story when we hear back.
