Raymond Briggs' Father Christmas takes centre stage at Waterside

Waterside in Sale has announced that this year’s Christmas show will bring the magic of Raymond Briggs’ Father Christmas to life on stage.

Running from Saturday 06 to Saturday 27 December 2025, the festive production promises to be a highlight of the holiday season for local families.

The story follows Briggs’ famously grumpy yet loveable Father Christmas as he goes about his hectic preparations for the big night – from readying his sleigh and feeding his reindeer to wriggling down chimneys and braving snowstorms. Mischief is never far away thanks to the antics of his pets, Cat and Dog, who add plenty of humour along the way.

Adapted by Pins and Needles Productions, the show blends live music, songs and playful puppetry to capture the spirit of Briggs’ much-loved book.

With a running time of 55 minutes and an age recommendation of 3+, the show is designed to be a festive treat for young children while still holding plenty of charm for parents and grandparents.

Tickets are priced at £17/£15 for standard shows, £20/£18 for premium shows and £12 for school shows with a £10 low-income offer available on 6 and 27 December.

Waterside’s annual Christmas production has become a firm fixture in the town’s seasonal calendar, drawing audiences from across Trafford and beyond. This year’s choice is set to continue that tradition, offering a heart-warming way to step into the festive spirit.
