The 'iRock Amplified – Drumathon for Together for Short Lives' will take place at Hiya! in Stanley Square on Thursday 30 July from 10am to 2pm.
A variety of drummers will perform popular rock and pop anthems throughout the event, while experienced drum coaches will invite children and other members of the community to have a go behind the kit.
The event is open to complete beginners as well as aspiring young musicians, with local families, schools and community members encouraged to come along and get involved.
Entry is free, with donations welcomed for Together for Short Lives, the UK’s leading charity for children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions and their families.
The charity helps families access the best possible care and make the most of their time together. It also provides bereavement support, campaigns for improvements to children’s palliative care and works with children’s hospices and healthcare professionals across the UK.
The drumathon has been organised by iRock's local team as a way of bringing the community together through music, while giving children an opportunity to experience performing, participating and supporting one another.
Sam Jenkins, band coach support lead at iRock School of Music, said: “Music has an incredible way of bringing people together and we're really excited to be hosting this event for the local community.
"At iRock, we see every week how much confidence children can build when they are given the chance to play, perform and be part of a band. This event is all about celebrating that energy and giving families, schools and the wider community a brilliant day to remember."
iRock School of Music provides in-school rock and pop band lessons for primary-aged children. Its weekly sessions are led by professional band coaches and are designed to help pupils develop confidence, social skills and a sense of belonging.
The iRock Amplified Drumathon takes place at Hiya! in Stanley Square from 10am to 2pm on Thursday, 30 July 2026.
Entry is free and donations can be made through the event's online fundraising page.
