Residents of Chestnut Drive in Sale will be switching on its 2025 Christmas lights on Saturday 29 November.

For the past five years, the lights on Chestnut Drive have been a must-see for both locals and many travelling further afield. This year, Santa and his elves will be there for the switch-on and will be joined by a choir and members of Sale Rotary.

What you need to know:

  • Chestnut Drive Christmas Lights

  • 🗓️ From Saturday 29 November 2025 - 6pm switch-on

  • 📍Chestnut Drive, Sale M33 4HN

This year, the event is supporting two causes:

Mission Christmas Cash for Kids

Residents are collecting new, unwrapped toys and gifts for children of all ages, from infants to teenagers. Please note that food items cannot be accepted.

Mission Christmas often struggle to receive enough gifts for two key age groups: under 2s and young people aged 12-18. For older children, items such as small tech, hairdryers and toiletry sets are especially appreciated, though donations for all age groups are very welcome.

The final date for donations is Tuesday 16 December. All gifts will then be delivered to the Mission Christmas Warehouse or to the B&M collection point the following day.

You can drop off your Mission Christmas donations at the front porch at 81 Chestnut Drive.

Karen’s Kitties Stray and Feral Rescue

Karen’s Kitties is a small, local cat rescue based in Sale. Many lost, abandoned and stray cats require urgent veterinary care, rehabilitation and safe, loving homes.

The rescue’s mission is to take these cats in, nurse them back to health, provide essential treatment such as neutering, microchipping and vaccinations, help them socialise and ultimately match them with forever homes where they can thrive.

At the Christmas lights switch-on, members of Karen’s Kitties will be serving mulled wine, hot Vimto and other warm drinks outside 81 Chestnut Drive, in exchange for a small donation to support their rescue work.

They will also be selling Lucky Bags for children (£1 each) – a lovely way to contribute while giving the little ones something fun too.
