New bubble tea café ‘Cuppa’ to open in Market Walk

A new bubble tea café is preparing to open in Sale’s Market Walk.

Bubble tea

‘Cuppa’ will occupy the unit previously used as the management office and will serve the popular drink, made with tea, flavoured syrups and tapioca pearls.

Originating in Taiwan in the 1980s, bubble tea — often called “boba” — has become a global phenomenon in recent years. The drink is known for its endless flavour combinations and customisation options, with customers typically able to choose their tea base, sweetness level and toppings such as tapioca pearls, fruit jellies or popping boba.

What sets Cuppa apart is that the team behind the café also makes and distributes its own tapioca. The pearls will be prepared on site, adding a sense of occasion to the experience.

The UK bubble tea market has grown rapidly over the past decade, with specialist cafés becoming a common sight in cities and towns. Sale’s new addition will give local residents the chance to enjoy the drink closer to home.

Cuppa is the latest business to be announced as part of the ongoing regeneration of Stanley Square, led by developers Altered Space. The redevelopment has already brought a variety of independent restaurants, cafés and shops to the area, transforming it into a popular destination for dining and shopping.

An opening date for Cuppa is expected to be confirmed soon.

A comment has been requested from Altered Space regarding the new opening.
