B for Butterfly Books launches new men’s book club in Sale
Independent bookshop B for Butterfly Books is launching a brand-new men’s book club, with the first meeting scheduled for Thursday 19 June from 2pm.
Owner Michelle Crosby told customers that the idea came after multiple customer requests. The group will be led by local author Tony Harrison, who has selected The Kellerby Code by Jonny Sweet as the first book for discussion. Anyone interested can reserve a place and purchase the book via the shop’s website.
Michelle hopes the male-only format will encourage more men to join book clubs, as traditional groups tend to be female-dominated. Book clubs, by their nature, are very sociable. You talk about the book, but it’s also about getting out of the house, meeting new people, and forming friendships.
The club is open to men of all ages. To join the mailing list or refer a friend, email: hello@bforbutterflybooks.com.

A community hub for book lovers
B for Butterfly Books, now based on Brooklands Road, relocated from Emporium M33 in March this year and has since flourished in its new space. The shop offers a handpicked selection of fiction and non-fiction for both adults and children, plus hot drinks and a cosy seating area towards the rear – perfect for reading and relaxing.
The larger premises have also enabled Michelle to expand her calendar of book clubs and author events, helping to build a stronger sense of community through a shared love of reading.
🕙 Opening hours:
