B for Butterfly Books celebrates Independent Bookshop Week
Sale’s independent bookshop B For Butterfly Books is set to welcome children’s favourite Bluey to the shop this weekend to celebrate Independent Bookshop Week.
Taking place on Saturday 14 June from 11am onwards, it’s one of hundreds of events taking place at independent bookshops across the UK and Ireland to mark Independent Bookshop Week.
Founded in 2006 and taking place this year between Saturday 14 and Saturday 21 June, Independent Bookshop Week is both a key moment in the Books Are My Bag calendar of blockbuster bookshop championing campaigns and a focal point of the Booksellers Association’s overarching mission to celebrate, advocate and support independent bookshops and the unique cultural, economic and community value they bring to shopping destinations and customers.
The event is free to attend and there is no need to book – Bluey will be making a first appearance at 11am and then throughout the day.
Michelle Crosby, owner of B for Butterfly Books, said, “I’m very excited to welcome BLUEY to the shop to help celebrate our very first Independent Bookshop Week at our new location in Brooklands.”
Independent Bookshop Week is a weeklong campaign championing the national value and vital local role that independent bookshops play in the UK and Ireland. It aims to encourage consumer support, government engagement and book trade collaboration to specifically celebrate, promote and bolster independent bookshops collectively and individually.
Throughout the week B For Butterfly Books will also be:
Handing out vouchers to customers to claim a FREE £5 National Book Token
Hiding books around Sale as part of ‘Look For A Book’
Bringing back ‘Blind Date With A Book’
Taking part in the nationwide BIG BOOK CLUB on Wednesday 18 June at 7pm
Hosting the first Men’s Book Club on Thursday 19 June at 2pm
Providing offers, giveaways and competitions
