Sale maker to walk five marathons in five days for men’s mental health charity
Re:Find Creations owner Gaz Jamieson-Jones is set to take on five marathons in five days in a walking challenge to raise money for ANDYSMANCLUB.
Gaz (pictured above) plans to cover just over 130 miles in five days in May, walking from his parents’ home in Knowle back to Sale via the canal network, averaging a marathon a day, back-to-back.
From upcycled homeware to a huge charity challenge
If you’ve popped into Re:Find Creations on Chapel Road, you’ll know Gaz for his one-of-a-kind upcycled pieces, from candle holders and clocks to shelving, chopping boards, lamps and coat hooks, all made using reclaimed materials.
He first leaned into making during the 2020 lockdown, creating from a garden shed in Northern Moor, before taking the step from markets to a permanent base here in Sale – a move that’s made Re:Find a standout for shoppers who like their homeware a bit different (and a lot more sustainable).
Why ANDYSMANCLUB?
Gaz is fundraising for ANDYSMANCLUB, a men’s suicide prevention charity that runs free-to-attend, peer-to-peer support groups across the UK and online, giving men a place to talk openly in a non-judgemental setting.
Groups typically meet every Monday at 7pm (excluding bank holidays) and are volunteer-led, with the charity built around the message that it’s okay to talk.
How to support Gaz
Gaz takes on the walking challenge from 11-15 May and is asking locals to get behind the challenge by donating and sharing the fundraiser with anyone who might be able to help. Donations go directly towards supporting the charity’s work.
Good luck, Gaz, we’ll be cheering you along!
