A number of Sale roads are included in Trafford Council's £5.4 million highway improvement programme for 2025, which has been unveiled today.
The One Trafford Partnership, a collaboration between Trafford Council and Amey, will oversee the programme, which allocates £2.45 million specifically for resurfacing, reconstruction and surface dressing treatments across the borough.
Among the Sale roads earmarked for improvement is Ashfield Road, which will undergo comprehensive resurfacing from Tatton Road to Claremont Road. The rest of the Sale roads on the list will have surface treatment as part of a 2025-26 programme.
Cllr Stephen Adshead, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Highways, Environmental & Traded Services, said: “We're investing in roads and better infrastructure to make our community safer and more connected, positively impacting everyone's daily lives.
Any residents or businesses affected by upcoming roadworks will be contacted directly by the highways team. Any diversions or temporary traffic lights will be signposted ahead of the scheduled start date, so everyone can plan their journeys.”

Surface treatment involves material being laid over the top of the old highway surface, extending the life of the road by up to 10 to 15 years.
Resurfacing means that some or all of the existing surface of the highway will be removed and replaced by a new surface layer.
Trafford Council says that other "more localised patching schemes" may also be carried out in addition to those schemes listed. Weather conditions may also impact start dates and times.
