Little Green Sock Project launches Christmas gift appeal to support local children
A Trafford-based charity is calling on local businesses and organisations to help bring Christmas magic to children across Trafford.
Little Green Sock Project has launched its Magical Christmas Gift Appeal, which helps provide presents for children who might otherwise go without on Christmas morning.
Last year, thanks to the generosity of local people and businesses, the project supported hundreds of families with gifts for both children and parents. For many, these were the only presents they received. This year, demand is expected to be even higher.
The appeal works by inviting businesses to host a Christmas tree in their workplace or community space. Each tree is decorated with handwritten tags, each one representing a local child and their Christmas wish. Staff or customers can take a tag, purchase the suggested gift and return it unwrapped in a gift bag with the tag attached.
The Little Green Sock Project then collects and distributes the gifts in time for Christmas morning.
For workplaces that cannot host a tree, a simpler collection option is also available, with guidance provided on how to set up a workplace gift drive and ideas for suitable donations.
Businesses are asked to have gifts ready by the end of November so they can be distributed throughout December.
