A quick guide to navigating "Dry January" in Sale
Sale locals observing a "Dry" (or slightly damp) January have no shortage of options for sipping sans alcohol during their month-long break from booze.
We asked Amy from @nowimsober for her local alcohol-free (AF) recommendations in M33.
Sale restaurants with good AF menus
Rudy's Sale offers a good selection of AF options; they do an Italian Apertivo called Crodino. It’s similar to Aperol, but slightly more sour. It can be served like an Aperol spritz too. Rudy's also often have AF in-house special drinks made from their own infusions.

Petisco has a small but delicious selection of mocktails on its menu, including Elderflower Nojito (elderflower, lime, mint and soda) and Peach and Ginger Fizz (peach puree and ginger ale).

Canteena has quite a few menu options but what they really do well are mocktail versions of classic cocktails. There’s an AF pornstar martini (which is delicious) and an AF espresso martini, which is spot on. This one’s my favourite – most people don’t even know it’s AF when I have it. It's a great option if you’re trying to blend in with friends who might be drinking themselves.

Sale bars with a good selection of AF options
Bars that are really flexible and creative at coming up with mocktails are Pray Tell, Jackalope and Rum Rabbit Rum. As a sober customer, it's fantastic that I feel welcomed to the venues, so I can still enjoy going out for drinks with my friends.
The bottom line: Going AF is increasing in popularity, but people still want to go out and socialise. So this is leading to more (and better!) non-alcoholic alternatives. If you're doing Dry January for the first time (or embarking on a longer-term sober journey), don't be afraid to ask at any Sale bar, pub or restaurant for AF options – chances are they will have something you love!
