Who knew eampy tealight holders could shine again?!
With just a few simple tools, you can turn them into beautiful little stars - perfect for gift tags, Christmas decorations or a bit of handmade sparkle.
This easy upcycling craft proves that creativity doesn't need to be complicated - all you need is a little time, imagination and the joy of making!
Materials needed:
Empty tealight holders
Scissors
A blunt needle or similar tool
A soft mat to protect your table (felt, cardboard etc.)
Pencil (optional)
String or thin yarn
Step 1
Make sure your tealight holder is clean and dry. Carefully cut the sides of the tealight holder in a zigzag shape all around the edge. When you're done, you'll have a little metal star!
Be careful – the edges can be sharp; adults should help with this step.
Step 2
Place the star on your soft mat and gently press or smooth it down so it's flat, nice and even.
Tip: Using a rolling pin to do this makes it extra fun for younger kids!
Step 3
Use a blunt needle, skewer or similar to trace little dots, lines or patterns onto the metal. You can draw a design first with a pencil or just freestyle.
Step 4
Poke a small hole near one point of the star and thread a piece of string or thin yarn through the hole and tie a loop.
Hang on the Christmas tree, tie onto a gift or use as a festive decoration.
