Mangiando Calabro
Mangiando Calabro has become a brilliant addition to Sale’s food scene since opening in October 2025, bringing a genuine taste of Calabria to Cross Street. Owned and run by Salvatore and Manuela (who some of you might recognise from trading at the Makers Market), it’s an intimate spot, perfect for a cosy pasta night or a catch-up dinner, with a menu that clearly reflects their pride in their home region.
Lunch is a standout – their focaccia sandwiches are huge, reasonably priced and feel like a no-brainer if you fancy something special in the daytime. If you go in the evening (Thursday–Saturday), expect comforting Calabrian pasta dishes, plus generous starters including a tagliere served with a terracotta ’nduja warmer so you can soften it up and spread it over focaccia. There’s also a deli section selling meats, cheeses, pasta and sauces, so you can take a little taste of Calabria home with you.

Opening hours
Tuesday and Wednesday 11am–5.30pm | Thursday 5.30-9.30pm and Friday and Saturday 11am–3pm & 5.30-9.30pm.

Piano Bar & Restaurant
Piano Bar & Restaurant's menus lean into the Italian classics people want — comforting pasta dishes, risottos and hearty mains – all served in a setting that feels perfect for date night, catch-ups or a family meal.
It’s also great value if you time it right, thanks to their Early Bird menu (two courses for £14.95, with the option to add dessert for £3.99) and there’s a bar area for a pre-dinner drink.
With live music at the weekend and genuine, friendly service, it’s the kind of place locals can return to again and again.
The Early Bird menu runs Monday-Thursday 4-7.30pm and Friday-Sunday 1-5pm
